School Nurse The School Nurse provides nursing care and health counseling to students. The School Nurse administers medication, treats injuries and ailments, and is the first point of contact in a student-related medical emergency. This position develops plans for student care based on assessment, intervention, and identification of outcomes. This may include treatment of those with chronic illnesses, disabilities and mental health conditions. This role also serves as a consultant to other school professionals, such as teachers, coaches, and counselors. The School Nurse develops student health policies, oversees infection control measures and immunizations, and actively participates in school safety plans that address school violence, bullying, emergencies, injury prevention and safety. This also includes maintaining/organizing student health records, providing regular communication with faculty/staff and parents to proactively ensure the school’s priority of the physical health of its community. And, working with extended day/summer learning, athletics, outdoor and field trip leaders to train, educate, and organize student medications and emergency kits, and mitigate risks for overnight trips. A bachelor’s degree (BSN) and registered nurse (RN) certification is required. Experience with children is required Please apply and email Brittiany Byas directly.
